Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden engineer interpretation: What flowers easily trigger allergies?

Author:

"The grass tree knows that spring will soon return, and all kinds of red and purple fight Fangfei. Yanghua elm pod has no talent, but the solution to the sky as snow fly." The Tang Dynasty poet Han Yu's poem depicts such a spring scene: all flowers make every effort to compete for beauty, there is no gorgeous flowers poplar, elm trees are not outdone, fluttering and sprinkling a warm spring "snow". Many people think that this kind of "flying snow" catkins is "poplar flowers", but in fact, catkins are just the seeds of poplar trees. Previously, the invisible pollen distributed by male flowers of poplars was one of the reasons for the high incidence of pollen allergy in spring.

What flowers trigger allergies easily? In fact, the brighter the color and the heavier the smell of flowers, the less allergenic pollen; Wind pollinated "wind flower", so that a large number of pollen floating in the air, when the surface of the pollen containing protein into the human respiratory tract, it will cause human immune response, allergic phenomenon.

The "external force" of plant pollination mainly comes from two mediums - wind and insects. Poplar, French sycamore, conifer and other plants have small flowers, no aroma, no nectar, and can only be pollinated by the wind, and their flowers are often called "anemoflowers". The pollen of these flowers is small and slippery, and pine pollen even has two air sacs that make it easier to float in the air. For anemophilic flowers, each male tree can produce up to tens of billions of pollen grains to increase the probability that its airborne pollen will land on the female flower. These pollen particles float in the air for anywhere from a few hours to four or five days. The more pollen floating in the air, the greater the probability of entering the human respiratory tract, people are more prone to allergies.

Apricot flowers, cherry blossoms, rape flowers, etc., or bright colors, or smell, or rich in nectar, easy to attract bees and butterflies, rely on them to help spread pollen, known as "matchmaker flowers." Their pollen grains are larger and sticky, which is not easily dispersed by the wind, and is usually not allergenic. Of course, we should not be careless when viewing flowers, if we are too close to the flowers, we will also inhale pollen particles. The best way to prevent allergies is to wear a mask and stay away from flowers.

In the northern temperate zone, once summer comes, lush foliage will hinder pollen transmission and reduce pollination efficiency, and high temperatures will reduce pollen activity, so plants that rely on wind pollen should bloom and pollinate in spring.

Easy to cause allergies in addition to pollen, as well as flying catkins, suspenseful catkins and so on. In order to suppress this allergen, urban gardeners usually adopt a variety of male trees, fewer female trees, or use chemicals to inhibit the fruit of female trees.
