Unfortunately, on September 16, 2019, giant panda Chuang Chuang died suddenly.

After the incident, the Chinese expert group and the Thai side jointly investigated the cause of Chuang Chuang's death. Chiang Mai, Thailand, held a memorial for Chuang Chuang.

The director of Chiang Mai Zoo said the zoo and its keepers had always taken good care of the two pandas, including a 19th birthday celebration for Chuang Chuang shortly before his death. He and his colleagues feel very sorry and sad about this situation.

On October 8, 2019, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China issued a notification of the death result of giant panda Chuang Chuang, which showed no trauma on the body surface and no foreign body in the trachea, and the cause of death was caused by acute onset of chronic heart failure and hypoxia in the whole body organs.
