Chinanews.com Hulunbuir, April 19 The reporter learned from the Inner Mongolia Huihe National Nature Reserve Administration on the 19th that in the routine monitoring of birds in April, nearly 20,000 migratory birds were monitored in the protection area, and the number of cygnets was close to the peak.
The air was clear and breezy. In Huihe National Nature Reserve, located in Ewenki Banner, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, flocks of migratory birds swim on the water for food, whooper swans and cygnets fall on the water like clouds in the sky, and various kinds of cranes and geese can be heard constantly.
Huihe National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia covers an area of 346,848 hectares and is one of the nine migratory bird migration routes in the world, where migratory birds transit, stop, breed and overwinter for up to seven months.
April is a critical period for migratory birds. Huihe National Nature Reserve Administration, the Crane Joint Conservation Committee of China Wildlife Conservation Association and the International Crane Foundation jointly carried out a synchronous survey of migratory birds in China.
The Huihe National Nature Reserve Administration said that in order to accurately grasp the data, the reserve started a combination of "regular monthly monitoring + key monitoring during the migration and breeding period", and set up 44 monitoring points, and the monitoring team should cycle at each point and "clock in" for 14 hours a day.
Up to now, a total of 19,693 birds of 51 species have been detected in the reserve, of which 3 species are under national Class I protection, namely 102 red-crowned cranes, 183 white-naped cranes and 10 great bustams. There are 13 species of birds under national second-class protection, including white harrier, white spoonbill, dað« -, whooper swan, eagle Owl, etc. Among them, the number of cygnets reaches 238
According to the official analysis of the Huihe National Nature Reserve Administration, compared with the bird monitoring data in March, the number of red-crowned cranes increased slightly, the number of white-naped cranes surged, and the number of transit birds such as cygnets approached the peak.
According to the monitoring results, it is expected that around April 25, Huihe National Nature Reserve will usher in the peak of migratory birds. (over)
